Stanford University was the site for the 1821st Stated Meeting. Welcoming talks by Gerhard Casper, president of Stanford University, Academy president Daniel C. Tosteson, and Academy Chief Executive Officer Leslie Berlowitz were followed by a panel discussion on Impeachment and Trial of the President—A Review. Jesse H. Choper, UC Berkeley School of Law, acted as moderator. Panel members were Vikram Amar, Hastings College of Law; Nelson Polsby, Institute of Governmental Studies at University of California, Berkeley; and Deborah Rhode, Stanford Law School. They provided an analytical review of the proceedings and discussed the legal and societal implications of this historical event. Their presentations were followed by spirited dialogue with the audience.
