Peter and Carolyn Lynch Take Lead in $1 Million Annual Fund Challenge
The Academy’s Annual Fund launched its 2000-2001 campaign in
October, aiming to reach beyond its record-setting performance of recent
yearsa total of $706,211 last year and an increase of 255 percent since
1996. Development Committee Chair Leo L. Beranek noted that "the success
of the past three years has brought us within range of a $1 million Annual
Fund."
He went on to announce that "thanks to the generosity of our
Treasurer, Peter Lynch, and his wife, Carolyn, the Academy has received a
two-year challenge gift to help us achieve the $1 million level. We are excited
by the opportunity that the Lynch challenge gift presents. It reminds us that
every gift is important. Only with the continuing generosity of Fellows and
friends will we meet the Challenge and reach this significant benchmark."
Louis Cabot, a member of the development committee and its major
gifts chair, remarked that "this most recent generous support from Peter and
Carolyn Lynch is another demonstration of serious Fellow support for the
Academy's new initiative to ramp up its outreach and programs and to utilize
the enormous talents of its membership more fully." Cochair Robert Alberty
added that he "was gratified by the number of Fellows who had agreed to
help the Annual Fund this year by serving as representatives for their classes
and sections and urging their colleagues to support the Annual Fund. They will
make a critical difference for us in helping to meet the $1 million challenge
with new and increased gifts."
