Tonya L. Brito is the Jefferson Burrus-Bascom Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Faculty Affiliate with the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin. She is the author of numerous works in the broad area of law and inequality, with a focus on the intersection of family law and welfare policy. Her recent publications include “Complex Kinship Networks in Fragile Families,” in Fordham Law Review (2017); “What We Know and Need to Know About Civil Gideon,” in South Carolina Law Review (2016); and “‘I Do for My Kids’: Negotiating Race and Racial Inequality in Family Court,” in Fordham Law Review (2015).
