Katherine Gagen is Program Associate for American Institutions, Society, and the Public Good at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating the activities of multiple projects, including the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship.
Katherine joined the Academy in December 2019. She has a background in urban policy and graduated cum laude from Trinity College with a B.A. in Urban Studies and Hispanic Studies, where she was awarded faculty honors, the Book Prize for Hispanic Studies, and the PRESHCO Prize in Latin American Studies. She has also studied at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and Fudan University in China. Upon graduation, she returned to Argentina on a Fulbright grant, where she taught English at a teacher training college.
