Maxine L. Savitz

Dr. Maxine L. Savittz is currently the Vice Chair of the President Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Formerly, Dr. Savitz served as the Vice President of the National Academy of Engineering and General Manager of Technology Partnerships at Honeywell Inc. Dr. Savitz is an authority on energy policy specializing in energy efficiency issues and her career included the overseeing of the development and manufacturing of innovative materials for the aerospace, transportation and industrial sectors.. Before her work at Honeywell Inc., she served as deputy assistant secretary for conservation at the U.S. Department of Energy from 1979 to 1983. She is currently a member of Advisory Boards at Sandia and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories. She is also a member of the board of directors of the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy and the Federation of American Scientists. She was on the National Academies' America's Energy Future committee and vice chair of the of energy efficiency technologies panel. She was also a member of the study committee that produced Energy Future: Think Efficiency for the American Physical Society. She additionally serves as senior adviser to the Academy's Alternative Energy Future project and was appointed to her current position at President's Council of Advisors for Science and Technology in 2009.
