Ronald Olson is a distinguished attorney who is notable for his involvement in many significant cases, his skill in corporate governance and counseling, and for the development of alternative methods of dispute resolution.  He has also been broadly engaged in public affairs, including Chairman of the RAND Corporation, Founding Chair of Southern California Public Radio, board member of ProPublica and California Institute of Technology and most recently leading a lawsuit to reform the treatment of homeless veterans. He is a name partner of the Los Angeles law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson.  As a member of the American Bar Association, Olson was formerly Chairman of the Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary (1991-1992), Chairman of the Litigation Section (1981-1982), and Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (1976-1986).  He also served as Vice President of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California (1986-1987).  He received a Diploma in Law (1967) from Oxford University, where he was a Ford Foundation Fellow.  He was an attorney for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice and in 1968 clerked for Chief Judge David L. Bazelon, United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.
