The Corporate Campus Initiative at Thomas College
The Corporate Campus Initiative at Thomas College offers customized professional development and workforce training for employers and organizations.
Program Description:
In Maine, Thomas College’s corporate campus offers organizational and professional development programing that is aligned with the needs of participating local employers. It primarily focuses on leadership capability and infrastructure by developing management competencies. Rather than bring students into a classroom, this program brings instructors to businesses.
For many employers, internal promotions can sometimes lead to a skills gap, as skills that are useful in one job position do not always transfer to the next. Corporate Campus aims to help develop those workers and provide them with the skills they need to move into management positions. Instructors from Thomas College create targeted professional development programs and trainings, and administer them to the employees of the businesses they work with.
Corporate Campus offers programming in two tracks: Leadership and Team Development, which includes leadership development, manager effectiveness, team development, and CliftonStrengths and People Infrastructure, which focuses on organizational design, performance systems, compensation and levels, and when information stops working.
The Corporate Campus training is developed with the specific needs of each business in mind. Their goal is to assist growing businesses with professional development needs beyond those they can develop and execute internally.
Impact:
Businesses are able to grow more deliberately with improved human capital infrastructure and provide professional development to their workers. This improves employee retention and promotes internal hiring and promotions. Corporate Campus hopes to help employers in Maine build their talent pipelines.
Population Served:
Owners scaling businesses, human resource teams looking to improve professional development opportunities, businesses with training needs, and their employees who are better prepared for future career progression.
