Texas OnCourse Academy

Program Description:  

Texas OnCourse is a state-funded online program with the goal of improving college and career readiness for all Texas learners through free resources for educators, learners, and families. Texas OnCourse provides a guide for learners to explore and plan their lives after high school graduation, leading to a successful future in their desired career path.  

The program is a result of the Texas Legislature’s House Bill 18 which aims to improve advising for learners by assigning responsibility to the University of Texas at Austin for developing the Texas Postsecondary and Career Counseling Academy, now known as Texas OnCourse.  

Within Texas OnCourse, there are resources designed for middle school students, such as MiddleGalaxy, a game which helps students decide their focus for high school and MapMyGrad, which helps students build an entire high school graduation plan. Texas OnCourse also hosts the Texas OnCourse Academy, which includes 30 learning modules on a wide range of topics including graduation plans, entrance exams, and financial aid. All modules are free, self-paced, and available online at any time.  

Impact: 

Since its inception in 2015, following the passage of HB 18, Texas OnCourse has served 18,465 educators, 71,085 learners, 1,030 districts, and 4,060 schools. Texas OnCourse impacts learners, educators, and counselors across the state by providing easily accessible resources to equip them with innovative postsecondary planning.

Texas OnCourse serves thousands of learners, educators, and school districts across the state of Texas.
