ElevateU at University of Montana

Program Description:  

ElevateU is the University of Montana’s signature career readiness program guiding learners from college into successful careers. ElevateU is a campus-wide initiative built into learners’ experience and can be found within coursework, study abroad programming, and internships, allowing all learners to easily access the career readiness services that University of Montana has to offer. The program provides learners with myriad resources such as a career assessment, access to the national job platform Handshake, a career coach, career readiness classes, and career fairs.  

ElevateU also includes Griz Career Skills Program, an asynchronous program for learners to identify, practice, and reflect on high-demand career skills across sectors. Much of the program focuses on developing durable skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and community engagement. The program also offers opportunities to work on strengthening resumes and interview skills. 

Impact:

ElevateU was launched during the 2022-2023 academic year with the goal of helping learners to “acquire lifelong professional development skills” and now boasts:  

• 437 faculty and staff trained as Career Champions
• 91 percent of 2024 graduates employed or in further education  
• 5,200+ learners reached across 543 career-skill-infused classes
