On May 30, 2018, Eric Liu (CEO of Citizen University, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute’s Citizenship and American Identity Program, and Cochair of the American Academy’s Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship) spoke at a gathering of Academy Members and guests about preparing citizens in a democracy. The program, which served as the Morton L. Mandel Public Lecture and the 2068th Stated Meeting of the Academy, featured welcoming remarks from Jonathan F.
