On February 6, 2018, the American Academy hosted an event on the topic of "Jefferson, Race, and Democracy." The program, which served as the Academy's 2065th Stated Meeting, included a conversation between Annette Gordon-Reed (Harvard Law School) and Peter S. Onuf (University of Virginia), drawing from their recent book titled “Most Blessed of the Patriarchs”: Thomas Jefferson and the Empire of the Imagination.
