Research centers mostly on condensed matter theory. In the theory of superconductivity he predicted the existence of Type II superconductors with two critical magnetic fields and a mixed state in-between with penetration of magnetic field in the form of a vortex lattice. He constructed the theory of Bi-type semimetals explaining their unusual crystalline lattices, electronic spectra with an extremely small number of carriers and effective masses, transparency thresholds in the infared and excitonic transitions in a strong magnetic field. Recent works are mostly on the theory of high-Tc superconductors.
