Alison Etheridge has been a Professor of Probability in the Department of Statistics at Oxford University since 2003. She is attracted to the "beauty and power of the mathematical sciences."

Her interests range from abstract mathematical problems to concrete applications. Much of her recent work has focused on mathematical models of the patterns of genetic variation seen in natural populations and, in particular, the ways in which the forces of evolution interact with the spatial distribution of a population.
