Professor of Mathematics and Professor of Economics. Mathematical economist who served on the Council of the Econometric Society and played a key role in the promotion of economic research in Latin America. Early work on central limit theorems in Banach spaces is used in probability theory. Has recently studied bankruptcy in incomplete markets and signaling models without single crossing. Recipient of the Brazilian President's Order of Scientific Merit.
