Professor Chandrakasan has developed ultra-low-power design methodologies that have reduced power consumption in functional blocks of portable systems by orders of magnitude. He has made an impact in areas including low-power digital signal processing and communication circuits, embedded power management circuits, ADC converters and RF circuits. His research has led to benchmark results in terms of energy efficiency, and his results have been widely used in industry. His leadership of MIT's Microsystems Technology Laboratories and MIT's EECS Department has led to many new initiatives in research and education, including programs that encourage student entrepreneurship and promote student and faculty diversity.
