Barbara Goldsmith

Field of expertise include women's issues and history, general American political and social history, and the preservation of books and documents. (The Conservation and Preservation divisions of the New York Public Library are named in her honor.) She has written non-fiction books, essays and criticism on American political, cultural and social subjects. Her present research includes the history of women's position in society. She is an appointee to the President's Commission for the study of this project. In addition, she is president of a foundation which concentrates its efforts on education, human rights, and the restoration and preservation of our written heritage.
