Founding Director, Center for the Technical Study of Modern Art/Harvard University Art Museums. Melva Bucksbaum Associate Director for Conservation and Research, Whitney Museum of American Art. Previously served as Chief Conservator at the Menil Collection, Houston, Texas. In research, teaching, and in publications on diverse artists, she is informed by a profound understanding of art historical issues and exerts influence on the philosophy, ethics, and practice of art conservation. Through a growing archive of interviews and interdisciplinary research, she is establishing an unprecedented resource for the understanding and preservation of the art of our time. Her work demonstrates the critical importance of collaboration between conservation research and practice and technical studies in the history of art.
