Carol Quillen was most recently president and CEO of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, from 2024 to early 2026.
She is president emerita of Davidson College, a role she held from 2011 to 2022. Quillen was previously vice president of Rice University, and vice provost before that. A historian by training, she was a founding member of the American Talent Initiative, co-chair of the NCAA’s Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Violence and a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.
Quillen also served on the boards of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, the National Humanities Center, Howard University and Princeton University.
