Grey is a world leader in the use of solid-state NMR methods to study structure and function in inorganic materials. She has pioneered the use of a wide range of novel and often in-situ NMR approaches to examine devices under realistic operating conditions; these have significantly impacted a number of areas in environmental chemistry and energy, including catalysis, ion sequestration, batteries, fuel cells and supercapacitors. Noted for careful NMR experiments combined with a range of other structural characterization tools and relevant theoretical studies. She combines a strong understanding of NMR theory with a deep insight into materials chemistry.
