Henry L. and Lucy G. Moses Professor of Music. Musician and music historian with expertise in early medieval (Notre Dame of Paris) to the classical period (Mozart) and a special interest in the relationship of music to art, architecture, theology, and myth as a means to derive long-sought meanings of ancient musical practices. More recently, investigated neuroscientific basis of musical perception, facility, and creativity in the brain of Mozart. Honors include the Alfred Einstein and Otto Kinkeldey Awards of the American Musicological Society, and the Dent Medal of the International Musicological Society.
