Professor Cyril A. Mango is the Bywater and Sotheby Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek at the University of Oxford. Prior to his appointment at Oxford, he held positions at Harvard University and King's College. Mango's research focuses on the history, art, and architecture of the Byzantine Empire. Some of his publications include, "The Brazen House: A Study of the Vestibule of the Imperial Palace of Constantinople," "The Mosaics of St. Sophia at Istanbul," "Treasures of Turkey," "Constantinople, City on the Golden Horn," "Byzantine Architecture," "Byzantium: The Empire of New Rome," "Byzantium and Its Image: History and Culture of the Byzantine Empire and Its Heritage," "Studies on Constantinople," "Constantinople and Its Hinterland," and "The Oxford History of Byzantium."
