Dan Bolnick is a Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut. His lab group conducts research on the genetics and ecology of co-evolution between parasites and their hosts.

Growing up he moved between North Carolina, Indonesia, Boston, and Zambia. Exposure to these diverse environments stimulated a fascination with biological diversity in nature, leading him to major in biology at Williams College.

After a stint teaching high school biology and math for the U.S. Peace Corps in northern Tanzania, he obtained a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. His dissertation research focused on the tendency for ecological competition between individuals, to drive greater variability within species, and received multiple young investigator awards. Bolnick became a professor in 2004 at the University of Texas, then moved to the University of Connecticut in 2018.

He has received prestigious fellowships from the David and Lucille Packard Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
