Daniela Rus has pioneered several noteworthy technical areas in Computer Science and Robotics, and is the Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT. She has been a pioneer in the field of self-organizing systems, building self-reconfiguring robots, robot swarms, and algorithms for controlling them. She is spearheading research in self-driving technologies, underwater robot systems, soft robotics, and printable robotics, working toward a future with robots integrated into the fabric of life. She is a strong advocate for early education in computational thinking and creativity, as a way of preparing the young generation for future jobs.
