President Emeritus, Carneigie Corporation of New York His research contributions have dealth with biological responses and adaptive behavior in stressful circumstances; and with several aspects of human aggression and conflict recolution. He has been concerned with the conjunction of biomedical and behavioral sciences -- first in the context of building an interdisciplinary scientific approach to psychiatric problems, then in research on the links of behavior and health as a major component in the contemporary burden of illness. In recent years, he has concentrated on child and adolescent development.
