Longtime international banker and a member of the prominent Rothschild banking family of France. After beginning his career at a mining firm he successfully re-started his family's bank in France in 1983 after its nationalization by the Mitterand government. He built the French branch into one of Europe's most successful advisory firms. In 2003, with the retirement of Sir Evelyn de Rothschild as head of N M Rothschild & Sons of London, the English and French firms merged to become one entity called Group Rothschild. He is Chairman of the Rothschild Group and two of its main affiliates, N M Rothschild & Sons Limited and Rothschild & Cie Banque. He is a board member of De Beers SA, Chairman of the Foundation pour la Memoire de la Shoah. He was Mayor of the City of Pont l'Ev?que (Normandy, France) from 1977-1995. He is also Commander of The Legion of Honour.
