                    David J. Gross is KITP’s Chancellor’s Chair Professor of Theoretical Physics and former Director. A Ph.D. in 1966 from UC Berkeley, he was previously Thomas Jones professor of mathematical physics at Princeton. Awards include the 2004 Physics Nobel Prize, Sakurai Prize, MacArthur fellowship, Dirac Medal, Oskar Klein Medal, Harvey Prize, EPS High Energy and Particle Physics Prize, and Grande Médaille d’Or. Honorary degrees: the US, Britain, France, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, China, Philippines and Cambodia. Memberships: National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Philosophical Society, Indian, Chinese and Russian Academies of Sciences, TWAS, and Past President of the American Physical Society.
