Lee is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Caltech. In 1981, he joined a company that was acquired by Comsat, the satellite communications company, and held various executive positions at Com sat. Lee joined TRW Information Systems Group in 1986, where, as group vice president of finance and acquisition, he was instrumental in expanding the information systems business from two to nine divisions in four years through acquisitions and internal growth. In late 1989, he left TRW to pursue his interest in private equity investments and joined Pacific Capital Group, where he helped the firm's expansion into the telecommunications industry. Lee co-founded and served as president and chief operating officer of Global Crossing Inc. until early 2000, when he left to co-found Clarity Partners. Lee serves as chairman of the board of overseers of the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and is a director of the Getty Trust. Through a grant from the Lee Family Foundation, he has established a Center for Advanced Networking at both Caltech and at the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.
