Present research interests:  The search for and characterization of extrasolar planets using both space-based and ground-based facilities (Kepler, K2, and TESS missions, KeplerCam, TRES, HARPS-N).

Previous research interests:  The characteristics of binary and multiple stars in various stellar populations, including open clusters, star-forming regions, and the disk and halo of the Milky Way Galaxy.  The evolution of chemical abundances and stellar kinematics in the Milky Way Galaxy.  Development of observing facilities and instruments and detector systems. Mapping the universe with galaxy redshifts.  The search for extraterrestrial civilizations with the ability to communicate large distances.

Future research interest:  Remote sensing of the atmospheres of exoplanets and the search for biomarkers as indicators of life.
