A leading game theorist of his generation. Best known for his role in the development of the theory of repeated games with discounting, and, in particular, for characterizing optimal self-enforcing cooperation in these environments. He has also developed new approaches to the implementation of social choice rules and models of bargaining based on reputational considerations. His current research interests include equilibrium selection in repeated games and theories of asset-price bubbles.
