Darensbourg is an international powerhouse in the development of catalysts and catalytic processes to transform carbon dioxide into functional and useful polymer materials via copolymerization with epoxides or oxetanes. His work applies exquisite understanding of fundamental chemical concepts to design systems that are of enormous practical industrial utility toward societal benefit. Over his career, he has made several seminal and important contributions that have shaped the fields of green chemistry, polymer chemistry, and materials science, and he remains as an international leading scholar who continues to advance fundamental knowledge and practical implementation.
