Don Norman is both a businessperson (VP at Apple, Executive at HP) and an academic (Harvard, UC San Diego, Northwestern, KAIST). He was founder and director of the Design Lab at the University of California, San Diego. He is now retired as a distinguished professor emeritus of psychology and cognitive science. He is co-founder and principal of the Nielsen Norman group, an honorary professor at Tongji University (Shanghai), and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He holds discussions with groups and students around the world (mostly by video), and is known for his books, including Emotional Design, Living with Complexity, the Design of Everyday Things, and his 2023 book, Design For a Better World: Meaningful, Sustainable, Humanity Centered.
