Contributions on transition metal-catalyzed organometallic reactions especially Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling, which has revolutionized the art of C-C bond formation. This may represent the most significant synthetic innovation since the development of conventional methods with organometals containing Mg and Li as well as their enolate analogues. Shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
