Broad interests in lasers and optics. She was a pioneer in the fields of non-linear optics, integrated optics and optical bistability. Most recently she is investigating non-linear optics in semiconductors. Additional expertise is in fiber optics, electro-optics, optical waveguide switches, infrared waveguides, and semiconductor devices. Recent new interests are the impact of technology on society (particularly gender issues), and technology education in the K-12 arena.
