                    Professor of Economics.  A researcher of tax policy and the distribution of income and wealth who made major theoretical and empirical contributions to public finance, particularly bridging the gap between theory empirics. Work focuses on using supply elasticities to inform optimal policy and on long-run patterns of income inequality, particularly at the top, across a number of countries. Editor of the Journal of Public Economics. Awarded the John Bates Clark medal by the American Economic Association (2009).
