Enoch Oladé Aboh

Linguist Enoch Oladé Aboh is a Professor at the University of Amsterdam. Aboh's work centers on the learnability of human language with a special focus on comparative syntax; language creation, and language change. His main publications include The Emergence of Hybrid Grammars and The Morphosyntax of Head-Complement Sequences. His empirical focus lies on Kwa (Niger-Congo), Romance, Germanic, Atlantic creoles, and sign languages.

Aboh has been a visiting professor at MIT and Yale and has taught at summer schools including MIT, Harvard, and the University of Chicago.

He is a founding member of the African Linguistics School, which advances the study of African languages especially with regard to syntax, semantics, phonology, sociolinguistics and phonetic fieldwork.

He received his B.A. in English from the University of Lomé and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Geneva.
