Professor of economics. Has made contributions to mechanism design, game theory, contract theory, social choice theory, political economy, and other areas of economics. Author of “Nash Equilibrium and Welfare Optimality,” which was singled out by the Nobel committee in awarding him the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for “laying the foundations of mechanism design theory.”
