Part research focused on determinants of morphology and population ecology of birds. She has studied the statistical analysis of size and shape and of population trends. Most recently she has been studying potential of innovative methods of forestry for the restoration of southwestern pine ecosystems in the United States. Former president, American Orinthologists' Union (1984-86) and American Institute of Biological Sciences (1997).
