The Elizabeth W. Gilloon Professor of Chemistry Emeritus, Fred C. Anson was an electrochemist recognized for the invention of chronocoulometric methods for analysis of adsorbed layers on electrodes, for the demonstration (together with James Collman) of the four-electron reduction of dioxygen to water, and for the development of the principles for predicting and manipulating the adsorption of species on electrodes.
