Friedrich Ehrendorfer

Emeritus University Professor, Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research , University of Vienna. Research focuses on patterns of evolutionary and eco-geographical differentiation in various groups of vascular plants, using DNA-analytical and multidisciplinary approaches. For decades he has contributed to the leading university text-book in botany (Strasburger). At the Austrian Academy of Sciences he was chairman of the Commission for Interdisciplinary Ecological Research, concentrating on biodiversity and long term ecological research in Austria, and of the National Committee for the UNESCO Program, Man and Biosphere (MaB).
