George Barth Geller Professor of Biochemistry. Pioneered molecular understanding of how membrane-spanning proteins connect to the cytoskeleton. Discovered ankyrins and elucidated their role in precise localization of membrane transporters and cell adhesion molecules at membrane sites essential for physiological functions, including nerve excitation and cardiac conduction, and in clinical disorders, including cardiac arrhythmias.
