London Centre for Nanotechnology, London, United Kingdom~Director; Quain Professor of Physics; Honorary Professor of Medicine. Experiments focus on quantum dynamics and coherence in condensed matter, from simple metals and semiconductors to complex oxides. Early work concentrated on the interplay between superconductivity and magnetism in rare earth and uranium-based metals. Measurements of magnetism in high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) have had immense impact on subsequent experiments and the theory of superconductivity. Co-founded the interdisciplinary London Centre for Nanotechnology, defined and procured its physical infrastructure, and established its operating model. Nonexecutive Director and Cofounder of Bio Nano Consulting. Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the American Physical Society, and the Royal Society. Honors include the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award (2002), the IUPAP Magnetism Prize/Néel Medal (2003), and the American Physical Society's Oliver Buckley Prize (2005). ~~
