Gabriel Solis is Professor of Musicology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the author of Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall (2013) and Monk’s Music: Thelonious Monk and Jazz History in the Making (2007).
