Gary Belkin is Assistant Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences and Director of the Billion Minds Project at Columbia University. He served as Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from 2014 to 2019. He is the author of Death before Dying: History, Medicine, and Brain Death (2014).
