GeorgeE.Karniadakis is the CharlesPittsRobinson & JohnPalmerBarstow Professor of Applied Mathematics and Engineering at Brown University. He is Director of the DOE-funded Center on Physics-Informed Learning Machines and the lead PI of the Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) in coordination with the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR).

Karniadakis develops algorithms and mathematical simulations for a wide variety of physical and biological systems. Most recently, he has focused on the creation of machine learning algorithms that incorporate physical laws to solve complex scientific problems, from simulating blood flow in the body to guiding self-driving cars.

He is the recipient of numerous awards over this career, including the prestigious Vannever Bush Faculty Fellowship in 2022. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the American Physical Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
