The research is in biophysics with the goal of understanding biological processes on a molecular (atomic) level. The main area of interest at present is the understanding of the primary processes in bacterial photosynthesis. This is an interdisciplinary endeavor spanning the fields of physics, chemistry and biology. The techniques used are: optical (kinetic) spectroscopy, magnetic resonance (EPR, ENDOR), X-ray diffraction, recombinant DNA techniques, protein purfifications, crystallization and a variety of other biomedical approaches.
