Astrophysicist; Research Group Leader. Invented techniques to calculate numerically the creation and evolution of galaxies and black holes in the early universe using the cold dark matter paradigm and played a leading role in calculations of cosmic structure formation. Used the newest generation of large-scale galaxy surveys to establish the systematic variation of galaxy properties with their mass, environment and level of nuclear activity.
