J. Frank Yates
Yates is a leading researcher of human judgment and decision-making. He studies probabilistic forecasting and decision-making in health care, business, and myriad other real-life domains. His findings illuminate the nature and foundations of contrasting biases, such as uncertainty avoidance, over-confidence, risk taking propensity, indecisiveness, and coherence shifting. Yates has systematically explored cross-cultural differences in effects like these and developed decision aids to manage them. His extensive service to his university and field includes advancement of intellectual excellence and equality across diverse ethnic and social groups. His honors include the James McKeen Cattell Fellow Award from the Association for Psychological Science.
