Violin soloist, conductor, recitalist, and chamber musician who made his first public appearance with the San Francisco Symphony at age 11. As a conductor and soloist, performed with the Boston Symphony, the London Symphony, the BBC Symphony, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, among others. Served as Artistic Director of Chamber Music at the Y Series and the Brandenburg Ensemble. Records extensively, and nominated for seven Grammy Awards, winning in 1971 for Best Chamber Music Performance.
