Research focuses on the economic effects of taxation and government spending programs. He has studied the impact of capital gains taxation, income taxation, and estate taxation on the structure of household portfolios, on wealth accumulation, and on the financial policies chosen by corporations. He has also investigated the influence of retirement saving programs, such as 401(k) plans, on household financial status, and more generally studied the factors that influence household saving decisions.
