Stavridis is the twelfth dean of the Fletcher School and is a former admiral in the US Navy, where he was supreme commander of NATO from 2009-13. He also served as commander of the US Southern Command. He holds a Ph.D. from Fletcher and has published 6 books and over 200 articles. His TED Talk on global security has over 700,000 hits. His professional focus is on strategic communication and planning, cybersecurity, creating security through international public/private partnerships, and innovation. He received numerous international awards and US military medals. Stavridis is an educator who seeks to bridge the gap between military and civilian issues.
